John Herndon is a drummer, music producer, and founding member of the musical group Tortoise. Discography includes, Isotope 217, Five Style, Starlicker, Exploding Star Orchestra, Pulsar Quartet, A Grape Dope, Ray Barbee, Poster Children.

He is a visual artist with a body of work that includes painting, illustration, embroidery, tattooing, collage, and new wave t-shirt scribblings.
